Sumi Agro Europe ensures business continuity with Platned’s managed hosting services  

Sumi Agro Europe, a key player in the agricultural sector and part of the Sumitomo Corporation, has successfully transitioned its enterprise software hosting to Platned, ensuring seamless operations across six countries. The move marks a significant improvement in system uptime, responsiveness, and scalability for the company’s IFS Apps 10 enterprise software.

With 200 users relying on IFS Apps 10 for daily business-critical operations, including order processing, invoicing, and inventory management, Sumi Agro sought a hosting provider that could guarantee uninterrupted access. Exiting a five-year vendor hosting agreement in November 2024, the company turned to its long-term IFS services partner, Platned, to take over hosting and managed services.

Platned, already managing Sumi Agro’s IFS support, offered a robust hosting solution on Microsoft Azure, ensuring 99.9% uptime and 24/7 proactive system monitoring. The transition was executed with minimal disruption—testing was conducted over three months to maintain integrations across six offices. The final switch occurred over a weekend, with full operational capability restored by Monday morning.

“Platned’s expertise meant that we experienced a seamless transition, and their proactive system monitoring ensures any potential issues are addressed before they impact our business,” said Kam Saran, Group IT Manager for Sumi Agro Europe.

Beyond hosting, Platned now handles system backups, routine maintenance, and updates, allowing Sumi Agro to refresh test environments efficiently. The partnership also enables scalable hosting solutions, offering flexibility beyond the rigid tiered pricing of traditional software vendors.

Looking ahead, Sumi Agro plans to expand Platned’s hosting services to Turkey and Slovakia within the next year, followed by a major upgrade to IFS Cloud in 2026. This collaboration underscores Platned’s growing reputation as a trusted provider of business solutions.
