The recently concluded Pekoe Trail Challenge 2025 showcased a remarkable collaboration between the IFS Foundation and its partners, with Platned playing a pivotal role as a brand ambassador. This 300-kilometre trek across Sri Lanka’s breathtaking country was more than a test of endurance; it was a concerted effort to address systemic poverty and drive sustainable change in some of the nation’s most underserved rural communities.
From 8th to 14th February, IFS Chair and Chief Talent Officer Stephen Keys, alongside Poka Senior Lead Software Engineer Avenash Krishnakumar, embarked on this grueling journey. Their mission was to raise $70,000 to fund transformative healthcare, education, and livelihood projects through the IFS Foundation. The challenge received support from IFS, the largest IT employer in Sri Lanka, and partner organisations including Platned, Hoist, Poka, and IGT.
Platned’s commitment to the cause was evident through the active participation of its leadership and team members. Chief Customer Officer Steve Boreham was present throughout the hike, capturing the journey’s essence through his photography. On the final day, Platned’s own Sadeesha Thilakarathne and Praveen Yogarajah joined the runners for the last 45 kilometers, symbolising the collective effort required to create lasting change.
The Pekoe Trail Challenge 2025 not only highlighted the natural beauty of Sri Lanka’s central highlands but also underscored the power of corporate partnerships in driving meaningful social impact. Through initiatives like this, the IFS Foundation and its ambassadors, such as Platned, continue to make significant strides in uplifting rural communities across the nation.
